It seems like something you can easily accept as being true. I'm not even religious but like I don't get what about those things are like causing an issue in people's minds. ![]() Why cant god exist as one supernatural being and Jesus still be divine or like if Allah is unique and unknowable and omnipotent why can't he still give rise to the world. Also not sure if this is on the author but I also don't get how the things highlighted as paradoxes are actually contradictory? Like I've heard of the "contradictions" and issues with theology before outside of this book and it has never made sense to me honestly. I think the cognitive biases are more than enough to explain the emergence of religion, regardless of if you are or are not religious, but he kind of brushes off them being the sole explanation without justifying why in a convincing manner. The thing though is that a lot of these ideas the author says aren't sound but then he doesn't make convincing case for why not. ![]() It presented a few theories for the emergence of religion and the universal presence of religion in human societies. This was a really interesting book about how religion emerged or formed through human history. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As Craig says, "If you have a sound and persuasive case for Christianity, you don't have to become an expert in comparative religions and Christian cults. That's not a problem for me, but I have noticed that his writing has taken quite a drastic, direct, right slant. Since Act of War, Thor's writing has become more and more directed at the extreme right sect of politics. ![]() If someone says some random, colloquial term from another country, they don't state the country of origin. One other things that Thor does that irks me is when he has a character from a foreign country say something like, "We are going to, as the Americans say, wipe the floor with them." It seems like a cheat-line that's also unbelievable. Maybe it's because of the number of interviews Thor does and how much press he does, but many catch phrases or lines of Harvath, I've actually heard Thor say before. Why then did I first give it 4 stars? Harvath is turning into a cliche for me. His stories are relevant, in depth, with plenty of twists and turns. (Indeed, when Horvath first appears, he’s already in the middle of dodging bullets. Why? First, Thor always has the best plot lines. Thor (Full Black, 2011, etc.) returns with his latest thriller featuring ex-Navy SEAL and counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath. In this installment, Harvath’s name has been put on a secret enemies list, and he quickly finds himself the target of assassins. I first rated this as 4/5, but a few hours later, I changed it to 5/5. ![]() 5/24/2023 0 Comments The passage trilogy review![]() ![]() Last year, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the network had signed a five-year deal to broadcast NFL's Thursday Night Football, which would bring in $550 million per year. ![]() It just seemed like such a huge, game-changing reset."
